Health Instruction Committee Purpose
The Health Instruction Committee of the Utah School for the Deaf meets the requirements of R277-474-5 sections 3-6 establishing a committee to review the curriculum and materials used in teaching health, maturation, and sexual education. This Committee recognizes the importance of parent ownership of their child’s health instruction. This Committee also recognizes the unique role that USDB educators have in the health instruction of children with hearing or vision loss.
Committee Membership
In alignment with R277-474-5(4b), the Committee is comprised of USDB employees and equal or greater numbers of parents of current USDB students. The Committee represents the staff involved in health instruction and the diversity of parents and students served by USDB. The executive leader of the Committee, the Chair, is a parent of a current USDB student and works closely with the USDB Superintendency.
